Disney is amazing any time but the parks transform into something truly magical at night. We are talking about way more than fireworks here, folks! The entertainment options available in the evening are plentiful — and nothing short of spectacular.
One of the most mesmerizing shows is Illuminations: Reflections of Earth, shown each evening at Epcot. Illuminations tells the history of the world utilizing special effects including fire, lasers, video, lights, a spinning globe and fireworks. The story that is told is integral to the experience, which encompasses the entire World Showcase area of the park.
My favorite nighttime spectacle is Fantasmic! at Hollywood Studios. This show depicts the dreams of Mickey as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice. One million gallons of dancing water, live actors, animation projected onto walls of water, pyrotechnics and fire make this a “must do.”
At Magic Kingdom, you have lots of choices! The evening entertainment begins with Cinderella’s Castle transforming into a piece of art with the Celebrate the Magic projection show, which changes with the seasons.
The Main Street Electrical Parade sends half a million synchronized lights on parade floats around the park. You’ll see fun characters such as Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Pinocchio and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs twinkle by. And the evening is capped off with the Wishes nighttime spectacular – a fireworks story narrated by Jiminy Cricket. You’ll even see Tinker Bell fly overhead!
And if you happen to be at the Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Fort Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge or Polynesian Village, you can catch the Electrical Water Parade. Mythical sea creatures float around the Seven Seas Lagoon to Disney tunes, ending with a patriotic medley and twinkling flags.
But there’s more than just fireworks that make Disney extra-special at night. Some of the rides take on a whole new persona at night. From Astro Orbiter in Tomorrowland, you can get a bird’s-eye view of Magic Kingdom in all its splendor. I also love the thrill Test Track gives you as your car sprints to 60 mph outdoors at night.
You can even have a date night! There are great Kids’ Clubs available at different resorts so you can go have a fantastic dinner and see shows like La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil. Or you can hang out at your resort and watch a movie outdoors or roast marshmallows at a campfire. The options are really endless. Don’t you want to see what makes Disney so magical?
